Bir & Billing are twin destinations 14 km from each other. Both have their own importance and incomplete without each other. Billing is at the altitude of 2400 mt from sea level and considered as best paragliding take off point in the world. Paragliding here is totally safe and full of panoramic view of Dhauladhar mountain range of Himalaya and beautiful Kangra valley. Billing has only few tea and maggi joints. Billing has no accommodation facilities and restaurant. Billing is travelled by paragliding and trekking lovers. Billing is considered as gateway for Bhangal valley which is most tribal part of Himachal.
Bir Billing is 550 km away from Delhi, 70 km from Dharamshala, 170 km from Manali and 70 km from Mandi. Whereas Bir is at the altitude of 1350 mts from sea level and landing area for paragliding at Chougan ground. Bir has many hotels and restaurants for stay. Camp Oak view is 3 km from landing area. Bir provide monastery walk. Walk along the colony road, restaurants and many more to see. Bir landing area is a happening place as many paragliders landing here all the day. Landing area and colony is always full of tourists.
Itinerary for Trekking, Paragliding & Stay in Bir Billing valley:-.
Day 1:- Arrive Bir and overnight stay in Hotel at Bir.
Arrive Bir and transfer to Hotel, free to explore monasteries around and colony area. Dinner and Overnight stay at Hotel in Bir.
Day 2:- Drive from Bir to Billing ( 16 km/1 hr).
Post breakfast drive to Billing for an hour for the starting point of the trek. Billing is at the altitude of 2430 mts from sea level. Billing is take-off point of the paragliding.
Billing to Hanuman Garh to Billing (12 km / 6-7 hr, 112000 fts.)
Start trek with gaining some instant height to reach a wide trail. Trekking is considered easy for 1st half. Easy trek for 1 hr to reach goom nala, leave the wide trail and start gaining height in forest Trek. This part of the trek is tough, it will take 1-2 hrs to reach Fudki which is known as water source, this is the place from where water piped to Billing. Trek is passing through forest of Deodara, Rhododendron, blue pine, green Oak, brown Oak and silver fir trees. Trail again steep uphill to another ridge, One can see Dhouladar mountain range and Thamsar pass from here. Trail again steep up hill to Hanuman garh. Hanuman garh at the altitude of 11200 fts from sea level. Hanuman Garh has 360 degree view, one can see Barot valley, Chota Bhangal valley, Thamsar valley, Kangra valley all the way down. Place has Rudra roop ideal of lord Hanuman. Other ridge at the top has old destroyed fortress of Bhangal kind and queen, which was destroyed by Mandi ruler in search of treasure after the decline of dynasty of Rule. Later trek to Fudki on same route, if time permit we divert trail to Saptvadini temple to Chana ghat mod to reach wide trail. It will take another 2 hrs to reach Billing from here.
Drive Billing to Bir. (16 km/45 min, drive)
Drive from Billing to Bir, reach Bir and transfer to hotel.
Day 3:- Paragliding and departure
Morning paragliding session and later free to explore Bir and departure
