– Paragliding Capital of India – Bir Billing and now a very popular destination for adventure lovers of the country and many foreigners.
Destination Bir Billing is constitute of two places – Bir and Billing. Bir and Billing are two twin destinations. Bir is a small village with various monasteries, market place and Paragliding Landing area. Bir is place for stay, having few hotels, guest houses and Camping at Camp Oak View in forest. Whereas Billing is paragliding take off point 16 km away from Bir at 2430 mts from sea level.
Village Bir is open throughout the year by road and well connected via direct Volvo buses from Delhi. Bir is located at 1500 mts from sea level, where as Bir Paragliding landing area is at 1300 mts from sea level. Roads to Bir are always open in all weather. Bir is also divided in many small villages as – Bir, Gunner, Chougan, Keyori, Bari, Danadi and Ghodnala. In these villages – Keoyi and Chougan are tourist area and home for hotels and guest houses, where as Village Ghodnala is for Camping.
Billing is at hilltop at 2430 mts from sea level, with amazing view of Sbow covered peaks and and Kangra valley. Road to Billing is closed for few hrs or days, depend upon snowfall. Sometime Billing experience snowfall for 2-3 feet. Paragliding take off point is at Billing ridge which is open towards kangra valley. Paragliding is closed during snowfall or rains and resume after it, post examining wind conditions. Billing is considerable very cold in winters and not suggested for stay in nights. Billing also place for camping with small tents but not suggested for winters till mid March from mid Dec. Billing has no water supply and have no electricity but have few shops of Maggi and tea.
