Are you planning a trip to Bir Billing and considering visiting Rajgundha village? Rajgundha is 30 km away from Bir Billing Valley takes 2 hrs drives through narrow mountain road. But make sure you read the below details about the road to Rajgundha and when not to visit Raj gundha. Rajgundha is a village for seminomadic people, they live there in summer and shift to lower areas during winter. Raj gundha experiences heavy snowfall from December to March and closes almost all roads and trekking routes, treks are slippery near cliffs. Avoid visiting there from Jan to March. Accessibility is less, very cold weather with glacier winds.

Road is open from April to November to Raj gundha from Bir Billing. December to March road is closed to Rajgundha. Trekking is also not safe from January to March due to hard snow settled near cliffs and become slippery .
How to go to RajGundha Village.
Travelers have the option of visiting Rajgundha in a single day by covering Barot and returning another way by doing a round trip. The journey is 5-7 hrs as below:-
Bir ——16 km—–Billing——6 km—Channa Pass (optional trek of 30 min trek to Saptwading Devi)——6 km —Raj gundha—–2 km —–Kukur Gundha village —-1 Km Ghatse ka Bridge over Uhl river —- 4 km—-Badagra village (old styled houses)—- 1 km—Nahlota village (last bus stop)——3 km —- Kothi kod village (vegetable mandi and waterfall)—-14 km— Barot (India’s 1st hydro project and Trout fish farming) — 50 km — Bi
This route is open for tourists by road from April to November, taxi start from Bir and by covering all these points and return back to Bir Billing. Rajgundha is a scenic village covered with tosh and devdara forest around the mountains. Evenings and mornings are always very cold. For stay not many options mostly basic camps and basic guest houses. Avoid staying there in winter from October to April as the cold mountain breeze does not allow you to move out from camp or room. So better to do it day drip covering other places like Barot. Tax is one option but avoid taking your car unless good driver for the mountains, A few points are narrow and pass to other vehicles not available. Scooty is also available for Rajgundha rides.
