Trip to Bir Billing, Himachal Pradesh.
I and my wife planned a trip after covid lockdown. It was difficult for us to finalize the destination, either Himachal or Uttrakhand. We had searched a lot about it. Found unexplored paragliding destination in Himachal Named “Bir Billing”. Found many blogs about the stay options, activities, and things to do, during our search. We found Travel Bir Billing and Camp Oak View in most of the blogs and good reviews from people who traveled Bir. Travel Bir Billing planned tour to us and stay at Camp Oak View. Activities added – Trekking to Hanuman Garh, Trekking to the waterfall, sunset point, Paragliding in Bir activity with best of the pilots and stay in best camping experience in Machaan Tents at Camp Oak View. The trip includes 3 nights and 4 days in Bir along with activities. We paid in advance and confirmed the booking. Find fast replies and much useful information along with a packing list as per weather conditions in Bir.
We Reach Bir and Transferred to Camp. Camp Oak View is located on top of the valley in the forest all around. The camp provided a natural look and was warmly welcomed by Rahul at Camp who manages there. We briefed about Camp. Camp has the amazing beautiful cozy look of Machaan beneath a clean and hygienic bathroom with running hot water. We relaxed there in the afternoon, later one of the team members took us to sunset point which is a 10 to 15 min walk away near a village house. We reached 20 mins before sunset and were mesmerized by the view from there. Palampur valley in front, Palpung Sherbling Monastery, forest, and Himalayan snow peaks from Sunset point. Sun sat at almost 5.30 pm but after sunset, it became more beautiful and red, orange light in front. Later moved back to Camp, everything changed. Lights on with an amazing unforgettable view of Camp, with light music, make the mood so fresh, we loved the Camp.
Bonfire arranged with tasty food. A lot of discussion about the valley. Rahul briefed our next-day plan about Paragliding and the Tibetan colony. Quilt, blankets, and especially hot water bags make the night warm in the winter night.
Wake up relaxing at 10 am, seems too late, but ideal time provided bed tea. The freshness of morning is still alive around. Had our breakfast and leave for the Paragliding session. Cab from Camp takes us to Paragliding Team. The paragliding team took us to the Paragliding take-off point which is 16 km away from the mountain takes 45 mins hilly mountain or moreover, we say rollercoaster ride to the mountain. The jeep driver was very fast on hilly roads was also a thrill before Paragliding. Pilots gear up and attached us with them. Run Run Run Run for 5 steps and in the air like a bird. View View View around, what was the view – Amazing. Sightseeing from the air. Landed at Bir, explored Bir Tibetan colony area, lunch there in the local café, and returned to Camp at 330 pm. We relaxed for a while before a short hike to the nearby village at 10 mins walk away. Hike for 45 min. Evening Camp team arrange special Handi mutton cooked in old traditional challah in a campsite. Taste in every bite – very tasty food. The next day will be long so we slept early.
Today is Hanuman Garh Trek –
Trek to the highest point of a valley at 10500 ft at the mountain top. We started our day with an early breakfast and left Camp with our guide Keshav. The top is Lord Hanuman Ideal with view all-round. View of snow-covered peaks of Himalayan range and Kangra valley on another side. We trek back after 30 mins spending at the top. We had our lunch at the gate of the temple. Trek back for 2 hrs till Billing and drove back to Camp. Camp prepared soup and early dinner after a long day.
