Day 1: Arrive Bir, Camp Oak View, Bir.
Day 2:- Local Bir Visit sightseeing
Morning post breakfast visit Palpung Sherabling Monastery Bhattu, Shiva Temple Baijnath and Tibetan Colony area in Bir Tibetan colony area, later transfer to Camp Oak View.
Day 3:- Camp Oak View to Thathi village to Raj gundha village. (easy to moderate trek, 16 km. / 6-7 hr)
Start trekking from Camp Oak View, trek passing through dense forest. Valley is surrounded by dense forest of Oak, Rhododendron and Devdara. We trek for 2 hrs to reach village. Village is group of three villages. These three villages are not still connected with roads. Village have electric supply, proper water channels for fields, farmers are growing organic vegetables with modern way . Village have well connectivity of mobile network but not after this village.
Trail from village is well defined and passing through dense forest along with mountain stream. Trek from here is easy to moderate for an half hour and then uphill till the top of mountain. Amazing view of Kangra valley down and Raj gundha village on other side from top.
Spend some time at Top and start trekking for another hour to reach Raj gundha village.
Gundha village is twin village including Raj Gundha and Kukkur Gundha 1 km away from each other. We stay in Kukur gundha village and visit both the villages as houses are old styled and full of Oak, Rhododendron and Devdara trees. Village is home of farmers and shepherds. Later after 1 km we reach Raj Gundha village, where we pitch our dome tents or stay in guest house.
Bhangal Valley in Kangra Distt. is considered as the most tribal and underdeveloped part of Himachal. Bhangal valley is divided in two part. One is Chota Bhangal and other is Bara bhangal. These are separated by thamsar pass. (4740 mt.)
Bara Bhangal is not connected with road. Even disconnected in winters by trekking trails due to heavy snowfall. Villager’s here still surviving on local vegetation and other things they grew.
Chota Bhangal region is in better condition then Bara bhangal. Chota Bhangal is connected throughout the year by trekking trails. Our trail route is passing through this part of valley. Villagers here known as Semi Nomadic. Livelihood of these villagers totally on the farming. They grew vegetables and pulses and moved down to lower planes in winters. Chota bhangal region is divided in many small villages as below.
Rajgundha village, Kukkar gandha Village, Bara Gran and Rulling Village. (some more villages but those are not falling in our trek route)
Bada gran village is connected to road from last few years. This is last road head village of Bhanghal valley. Road is not accessible throughout the year. Connectivity is only in summers. This place experience heavy snowfall in winters. Villagers moved to lower areas during winters. But some old people live here to take care of their property, like houses and cattle’s they have. They collect and store the stuff required in winters for their survival. Villagers grow vegetables and pulses for their livelihood. Vegetables’ and pulses here are considered as organic, as no chemical fertilizers used as land is so fertile naturally. All these growing outcome supplied to the various region of Punjab and Himachal.
Villages are twin villages and at the distance of 1 km. Villages have almost same heritage and culture. People here known as Bhangaliya, as they belong to Bhangal valley. Theses villages in not only known for culture but its scenic beauty which make its different from other. Villages surrounded by very dense Deodara, Oak forest, on the one side and by open valley on the other with mountain view. Forest hiding many endangered birds species and wild life. Trek to billing is well defined road which was destroyed due to landslide and trees. Trekking is very easy and considered as family hiking route. Provide many experience like village life, wild life, natural scenic beauty, snow covered mountain view.Trek end up at Paragliding site Billing. This valley left untouched by other part due to its rich heritage. Which can be read in below link of Blog at the end of page.
Day 4:- Raj Gundha to Billing (easy trek, 11 km. / 5-6 hr)
Post breakfast, we start our trek from Raj Gundha village. After Raj gundha village trek enter to Deodara and Oak forest. Trail start gaining altitude till Channa ghat, which is highest point of trek at 2700 mts from sea level. From Channa ghat, we have the view of Thamsar peak and Billing on the other side. Trekking for more 2 -3 hrs you will reach at Billing, which is take off point of Paragliding.
Reach Billing and 15-30 min. paragliding session in Bir Billing, landing at Bir and free to explore Bir at your own.
Day 5:- Departure
Post breakfast drive back to your destination.
